Google Freak View

While trying to find that ice cream truck graveyard in Castleberry Hill in order to tip off Atlanta Food Carts (sign the petition!), I happened across this startling animal on Walker Street. What is this thing?
Okay, it is probably a pony…but still.

Here was another fascinating Google Maps Street View discovery cruising down Moreland: THE FURBUS.

Good grief. I think you can get help for this sort of thing.

That’s not a pony; it’s a horse. Where do you think the horses that pull the carriages through downtown come from? I live on Walker St (which turns into Centennial Olympic Park Dr up around CNN center and the park) about a block north of where that picture was taken. I always hear the horses clopping to and from downtown. The “field” they stay in looks more like a junk yard than a proper place for horses through the gaps in the fence.

The ice cream place is right out my bedroom window. During the summer, the people wearing winter coats (for the walk in freezer) tend to wake me up on Saturday mornings. Let me know if you haven’t found it and want to know exactly where it is.

These horses are the true victims of gentrification!! These poor souls are displaced to back-alley trash lots while Castleberry Hill’s historic stables are turned into galleries and residential lofts.

I actually looked into reporting those horses and their living conditions to the Humane Society. Apparently it’s not that big of a deal to make your horses live amongst broken down cars.

That’s what you get for being the dregs of the past two centuries’ transportation. They would never treat the BeltLine this way.
