I feel cheated

Why wasn’t this home featured on the Modern Atlanta home tour last weekend? Because it is in Snellville? Racist. Speaking of racist, did the AJC just describe the home as “Bollywood chic” because the family who lives there is from India? The house is more like “Less Than Zero chic.” Anyway, you have to see this photo gallery in AJC’s usually boring “Private Quarters” feature. But this time: prepare to have your mind blown by the Chunaras’ $100,000 worth of decor. I have never been inside Huff Furniture on Peachtree, but this is basically what I imagined.

I’m going to go watch Designing Women now.

Wow. That trad exterior really betrays the exotic wonder of the inside. All money well spent if you ask me. And nothing says “church” like a rhinestone bedazzled tiger clutch.

There is nothing modern about the style of this house and let’s not forget that Snellville is not Atlanta. So why would this home be in the Modern Atlanta Home tour? The same reason a farmhouse in Duluth wouldn’t be. Do you know what modern is? The Bollywood reference goes beyond race. Did you see the overly baroque gaudy furniture, the shiny beveled mirrors and dazzling decorations? This is not modern, it is an aesthetic nodding to India royalty with a contemporary american flair. (an tasteless mix if you ask me. It’s not about race. Elvis had the same problem. This is what happens when people with a ghetto fab style have money).
