Before we launch into our monthly feature, let me put in a plug for our favorite movie rental place, Movies Worth Seeing. They’ve changed their policies a little in ways that favor those of us who cannot manage to return a DVD on time under any circumstances.
Well, we see a few new additions this month but everything still adheres to the genres that seem to dominate the Netflix queues of Atlanta residents more so than any other city – gay comedies, gay dramas, African-American dramas, and documentaries about civil rights or Germans during WWII.

And the synopses of those without titles that give away the entire premise:
- The Ritz: Legendary filmmaker Richard Lester (A Hard Day’s Night, Superman II) directs this outrageous farce about a Cleveland trash man (played by Jack Weston) who eludes a mob hit by hiding out in a gay men’s bathhouse in New York City.
- Cover: Valerie Maas (Aunjanue Ellis) is a happy homemaker whose life falls apart when she discovers her husband of 15 years has been leading a double life — and that his extracurricular activities may have exposed her to the AIDS virus. Vivica A. Fox and Louis Gossett Jr. co-star in director Bill Duke’s thoughtful and complex drama examining the repercussions of the “down low” lifestyle.
