These are the neatest examples of graffiti I’ve seen in a while. I’m not totally sure that they count as graffiti since they seem to be paper adhered to the side of these totally gross shops that are “FOR LEASE” on Dekalb Avenue as opposed to spray paint. The buildings get painted with big white squares every few months to try to cover up some of the gratuitous tagging, and a recent treatment left a nice blank canvas for these pieces. Since I walk by these things on a regular basis, I think it’s a nice improvement. Definitely preferable to “perve nife” or whatever other tag is usually there. Thoughts?

That’s my friend Joe’s work! He also designed the newest Sopo sticker. Pretty rad, no?
I think the technique he uses is called “wheatpasting” – it’s really easy and cheap to do yourself, and you can use it for a lot of cool effects.
I’m glad you got photos of this! I pass it every day on the way to work and keep meaning to stop and take a photo, but so far have been too lazy to stop the damn car and do it. Now there’s another one of the flying security cameras on an abandoned building a little further down Dekalb Ave., too.
For the record, these are gone now. Both of them. So I’m extra glad I got pictures. I’ll have to look for the other camera.
