With the exception of The Hills, True Life is the best show on MTV. Recently they aired “I’m a Southern Belle” and it was SO GOOD. MTV followed two girls at Ole Miss and one girl who grew up on a cotton plantation in Tennessee (and whose boyfriend talks exactly like every guy at UGA) as they obsess over being perfect and getting married (or not).
My favorite was pageant queen Raini, who, despite being the youngest girl profiled on the episode (at 18 years old), dresses and grooms like an old church lady. Check out some of her dazzling fashions:

This post is mean.
So it’s okay to call a girl trashy for wearing jeans and heels – which by the way EVERY GIRL WEARS at one point or another – but it’s mean to say a girl in a sparkly Santa sweater and pageant makeup looks like an old lady? I would way rather be called an old lady than trashy. In fact, I do get called old lady AND I LIKE IT. I thought these girls were awesome, and they reminded me of former roommates who totally had a sense of humor about their devotion to old Southern mores.
did you mean to post this on your TV blog?
I’m sorry. It just seemed mean at first. I apologize.

Is this true? Really?
My roommate and I have actually been looking into buying a copy of this. If we can get it, do you want a copy?
OF COURSE!
