Oakland Cemetery tore up from the floor up

Not only did Friday night’s tornado rip the roof off of the Cotton Mill Lofts as we all know – you really have to take MARTA to see what a bad scene it is – but it trashed the very historic Oakland Cemetery across the street. AJC has some images of the devastation in this photo gallery. Now I see what a bad idea it is to let grand old trees age gracefully in a graveyard and really settle their roots deep in the earth, because when they get uprooted by a storm you basically end up with a bunch of gaping portals to Hell as illustrated in the photo above.

Let’s just say some Masonic and Confederate ghosts are PISSED OFF at Mother Nature right now.

How sad! And kind of creepy – I wouldn’t want to be the one digging around that tombstone.

Just saw the damage from MARTA for the first time this morning. It’s pretty terrible – I wonder if they can just replant the trees that got ripped up in Oakland Cometary?
