Super Duper Tueday

22 Jan

Today, a lot of local bands release albums.

MGMT isn’t really local, but they spent a summer residency in Athens a few years ago because of their cosmic pull in to the Whigs‘ orbit. We saw them play on Friday at the EARL with Yeasayer. But it felt less like the EARL and more like the Epsilon Alpha Rho Lambda house, if you know what I mean. I was in the bathroom on my way out and one of the sixteen girls crammed in the next stall kept shouting, “Lesssss go to Aaaaaay-ullllll Bar! Y’all, lessssssss go to Aaaaay-ullllll Bar!” Unless there is a new place called Ayul Bar, I think she was saying El Bar. Yep, Mamalikey, the jig is up. Expect the same thing this Friday for the Whigs CD release show, also at the EARL.

Go with the Anna Kramer album instead. They’ll be doing a Criminal Records in-store this evening at 7 PM with the Selmanaires, also releasing today! You can catch both bands at the EARL (with Noot d’ Noot) this Saturday as well.

Are those legs people at the MGMT show? What the fuck is up with sorority/fratty kids wearing bellbottoms and chuckah boots?
    Fashion is a toilet.

There were a lot of jeans-n-heels.

My mom told me once, when I was a very little boy, that jeans and heels were a sign that a woman was “trashy” and I’ve never, ever been able to think otherwise.
